Angels

Introduction
Anyone can draw a crowd by giving away free stuff.
That's what I (and a group of friends and supporters) did at Angels House. I
felt good about doing it. Was I intelligent about what I did? Not really! Did I
impress with my "good deeds" other persons? Many believed I was doing
"good!" Some thought what I did was of doubtful merit. A few wise
persons thought I was wasting my time and energy. At Angels House did I do
anything good? Maybe. If I had the opportunity to do differently what I did,
would I? Most definitely!
Here's the story of what I did to create and operate
Angels House – including commentary on what I believe I did wrong and suggestions
to anyone who might attempt to follow in my "do good" footsteps.
Perhaps while reading this story persons who are
involved in "doing good" may reflect upon the merits of their own
activity in the "charitable industry of helping others," and, perhaps,
those who support them may think twice, and maybe even thrice, of their
generosity.
The story of Angels House, from 1981 until it closed
down in 1986, involved quite a number of well-intentioned and, perhaps, kind
but misguided persons. Undoubtedly, a number of angels were encountered. This
storyteller, at the time, was unaware of entertaining some who were
"angels of light." Beware!
