Welcome to the Community of the Blesséd Mother, a workplace of ecumenical contemplative intercessory prayer, and the Ralph Ransom Reading Room for the Development of a Higher Consciousness.
For some time, I have been in prayer about a place for persons to be engaged in "active" contemplative prayer and intercession for the world. For some time, I have also been in prayer about creating a memorial to the late Ralph Ransom, a former resident of San Antonio who grew up in what is now known as the Maverick Carter Mansion when he was not at summer camp elsewhere and before he entered the Society of Saint Joseph in Baltimore, Maryland. He was to become a lifelong priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Devotion to the Blesséd Mother and the quest for a higher consciousness were part of the day-to-day life of "Ralph." Many who thought they knew "Ralph" did not realize he was a Catholic priest. He was known to be a truly caring person who always spoke kind words to everyone on the streets of downtown San Antonio. For years, he was a priest serving in African-American parishes across the southern United States. So the "Spirit of Ralph" as well as the "Spirit of the Blesséd Mother" will be present within Angels House II. Caring, the way Ralph cared! Mothering! Nurturing! The way the Blesséd Mother mothered and nurtured Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. These will be what Angels House II is about!
I believe this is what the world needs now. A new age of caring, of mothering – a new age of nurturing. And, let us add, a time for truly giving thanks to Almighty God for the many blessings we humans have and are continually receiving.
The work is simple: contemplating Christ. Nurturing, with one's heart, Jesus Christ. Enter into the experience of the Blesséd Mother. Women AND men! Imagine the Annunciation. Imagine the Blesséd Mother's experience with the Incarnate Word within her own womb. Imagine the birth of the Christ Child. Imagine being the one chosen by God to nurture the Son of God.
And now contemplate the opportunity to nurture Creation – to be the blesséd mother of Creation.
This is awesome. This is the opportunity – for everyone – every woman and every man – to give birth to a new Creation – and to nurture this Creation.
Contemplate Christ and His Creation – and our opportunity and our responsibility to nurture the world. This is the work of the Community of the Blesséd Mother.
Concerning a Specific Work The activity of the community, obviously, will be centered on contemplative intercessory prayer as well as the giving of thanks to God.
The Community of the Blessed Mother will take on the "work" of carrying petitions, or intercessions, to God through Jesus Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit DIRECTLY to the Blessed Mother, the mother of Jesus, in silent mental prayer.
The "petitions" will be "ideas" for performing "works of loving kindness" in the broader exterior community.
Ideas will be presented and discussed in conversations conducted in daily meetings among the Blessed Mother's community. Non-members may be invited to present ideas.
An idea may be given to a specific member of the Community of the Blessed Mother. That specific member may "hold" the idea, without general discussion, in mental prayer.
Members of the Community of the Blessed Mother will NOT give instructions beyond the general conversations, asking instead for the Holy Spirit to "enlighten" the person holding the "idea" with a gift of wisdom.
"Enlightenment" of the person who is bringing the original petition may occur through the sharing of ideas and the discussions during the conversations.
No specific instructions are to be given outside of the general discussion. Only mental prayer will be "exerted" with the petition that enlightenment may occur to whomever has offered the original petition. In other words, the members of the Community of the Blessed Mother will pray about it!
Members of the Community of the Blessed Mother are to be present beyond conversations once a day for a specified "Hour of Silent Communal Prayer" culminating in a silent "meal" of bread and wine WITHOUT ceremony other than the silent passing and the taking and eating of the bread and wine.
The activity of the Community of the Blessed Mother, therefore, has three parts:
1. conversations of members of the Community of the Blessed Mother concerning ideas to perform "works" of loving kindness - with expectation of enlightenment about practical philanthropy;
2. the silent mental prayer of intercession for enlightenment; and
3. the HOUR of silent communal prayer and sharing of the meal of bread and wine.
The activity of the community will be daily.
Father Ralph Ransom SSJ Concerning the Specific Work The Ralph Ransom Room will be open for meetings of persons concerned about the development of a higher consciousness.
Concerning Angels House II
Angels House I was all about providing material help to homeless persons living on the streets of Austin. The property was purchased by a wealthy man in Austin - Mr. Dabney Cauley - who allowed the ministry to use the site on a day to day basis. He was asked to buy the property and to hold it for the ministry's use. He was most gracious in doing so. Ultimately, the property was given by him to Saint Matthews' Episcopal Church, Austin. It is now used by another group.
Angels House II is to be used specifically to pray for, not the poor (obviously they will be included in prayer daily for their needs), those who have means.
The reason WHY the so-called Homeless are being excluded from Angels House #II is because their needs are being met by the City of San Antonio's Haven for Hope. More than $1 million was spent to provide that facility.
Brother Tony was once homeless after a particularly trying time teaching at a public school down on the border. He went to the Salvation Army and a blessed social worker helped him to regain my composure, get a place, and start over again.
EVERY homeless person NEEDS to cooperate with someone and they can have a place again, too. The problem is many of the so-called homeless refuse to cooperate with those in ministry who can help them. These troubled souls will not seek help from the Community of the Blessed Mother who only offer spiritual help, anyway.
