Part Two

Circa 1944: in Houston, Texas, learning to make projects with wood at the YMCA in the summertime.

Circa 2005: in San Antonio after a hike along the river walk. This is what age does to a person!

Circa 1984: in Austin with a homeless person at Angels House soup kitchen.

Circa 1983: in Austin, pausing in front of Saint David's Church for a few moments to share good news with a bag lady, Kathy Mudd, who also ate daily at the Angels House soup kitchen.

Circa 2002: in Laredo, Texas, where I lived on the top floor of the Hamilton Hotel while I helped run Holding Institute.

Circa 1995: in Zapata, Texas. I befriended a neighborhood Hispanic family led by a single parent, Clara Benavides. I helped them move to Austin and become settled in a new, independent life.

Circa 2002: Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. A lovely Hispanic friend, Flor, who operated a tienda on Guerrero in the market district.

Circa 2002: in Laredo, Texas. Gazing out from the Hamilton Hotel toward the International Bridge #1 to Mexico.

Circa 2005: in San Antonio, Texas, at Schilo's Deli on the river walk. With friends Father Ralph Ransom, SSJ, and Howard Peacock, author and journalist of stories about the Big Thicket in East Texas.

Circa 2004: in San Antonio, Texas. At the GM Steak House cafe across from the Alamo with Dr. Ray Fernandez and his wife, Marie. This man is the "undeclared grandson" of Johnny Kenedy, heir to the Kenedy fortune. The Catholic Church of Texas has fought for years to block the truth about the Kenedy fortune.

Circa 2006: in San Antonio, Texas. At the Menger Hotel dining room with literary friends, including Dr. Sharon Smith Wolfe, Costa Rica.

Circa 2002: in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. With a little girl, Mary Cruz, who always served my meal well at a small restaurant I frequented.

Circa 1957: in West Park, New York. While I was a postulant in the novitiate of the Order of the Holy Cross, an Anglican monastic community.

Circa 1958: in West Park, New York. As a junior professed member of the Order of the Holy Cross.

Circa 1994: in Zapata, Texas. Standing on Falcon Dam on the Rio Grande, between the United States and Mexico.

Circa 1993 in Spring Valley, New York. With Virginia Malone Osborn at the Fellowship Community. We were co-workers at this Anthroposophical initiative. I learned much about Rudolf Steiner's teachings about the spiritual life.

Circa 1965: in Millbrook, New York. I was editor and advertising director of the Millbrook Roundtable, a weekend newspaper in Dutchess County.
